Kristen’s bliss ball recipe

Bliss balls for a healthy Christmas treat ~ Great for homemade gifts!

Ingredients:

10 – 12 pitted dates

1/4 – 1/2 cup desiccated coconut

2 large tablespoons good quality cocoa (or raw cacao)

1/2 cup nuts (almonds work well for this recipe)

1 tablespoon coconut oil

(1 teaspoon agave or maple syrup – optional, as the dates are quite sweet enough)

Method:

Whizz everything up in a food processor until it comes together and holds it’s shape.

Roll large teaspoons of the mixture into balls – It may still be a bit sticky, this is ok as you can then roll the balls in more dry or shredded coconut, cocoa powder or chia seeds.

The beauty of these balls is the recipe does not have to be exact so long as the mixture rolls easily after processing. So you can use up the last little bits in your pantry or substitute ingredients.

You may want to experiment with rolled oats, different types of nuts and nut butters, pepitas, cinnamon, goji berries and other dried fruit…. your are only limited by your imagination! They freeze quite well too.  Happy rolling!
