Acupuncture is a great way to prepare your body for labour and birth. It can help to build your Qi (energy) and blood to be in an optimal state, relax tension through the hips and pelvis, helping you to be in good health before labour.
Your acupuncturist will ask lots of questions about your body systems to get a sense of any imbalances/deficiencies, and on top of addressing these, points will be used to descend Qi, calm your Shen (spirit), unblock and move stagnation, and relax the pelvic muscles.
Everybody responds differently to acupuncture depending on their current state of Qi, but usually a few treatments are required for optimal effect. Acupuncture is most beneficial when experienced throughout your pregnancy – to address aches and pains, and other symptoms that may arise. If you are nearing the end of your pregnancy/over your due date and you are wanting to know how acupuncture may help, please give me a call as I would be happy to discuss treatment options with you.
