Craniosacral Therapy

Finding health | Relieving anxiety, trauma & pain

Craniosacral Therapy uses subtle touch to re-balance the nervous system and allow the body’s natural self-healing ability to flourish. It’s used by people of any age (from newborns to the elderly) for relief from anxiety, depression, pain, stress, trauma, digestive problems and many other issues.

What happens in a treatment?

The client lies fully clothed while the therapist makes light contact, listening to the nervous system and subtle rhythms in the body. Contact is often at the head, feet and bottom of the spine. The therapist asks questions to help the client explore sensations in their body. They listen without judgment, helping the client feel safe and supported.

How does it work?

Craniosacral Therapy helps the brain to become more aware of tensions and restrictions in the body and nervous system. It can then start to let go of what’s no longer helpful and create change at its own pace. This ‘body-led’ healing approach is why the therapy offered at Five Elements is sometimes called ‘biodynamic’ craniosacral therapy.

How can it help?

Clients have reported:

  • lower anxiety level and frequency
  • relief from pain and headaches, reduced muscle tension
  • relief from the effects of physical and emotional trauma
  • better overall health, immunity, and energy levels (including relief from depression)
  • coping better with stressful situations
  • improved sleep and digestion
  • feeling calmer and more relaxed
  • feeling more connected and aware.

craniosacral therapy For long-term issues, consider using Craniosacral Therapy alongside other treatments like (osteopathy, naturopathy, counselling, acupuncture or kinesiology). It’s also often used during pregnancy, and by mothers and babies.

Please be mindful that each person’s body and history is different and that conditions can have multiple causes. Some of these may respond well to Craniosacral Therapy and some may need other forms of treatment.

If you have a serious medical condition, we recommend you see a qualified medical professional before seeking craniosacral therapy.
