At the beginning of  this year we had the pleasure of welcoming Denise to the team. She is a Shared Care Midwife collaborating with The Women’s Hospital.

Denise’s journey into midwifery began in the UK. Her time working for a large pharmaceutical company was not fitting with her life philosophy, and so she found her passion in pregnancy and birth, fuelled by her fascination by how the human body works, changes and adapts during this time.  She truly believes the power and strength women have to bring life into this world is phenomenal .  Her philosophy surrounding midwifery stems from her passion to promote and practice woman-centred care. She strongly believes in a woman’s right to have control of her own body, and make an informed decision regarding her sexual and reproductive health. This includes the right to have choices and access to continuity of care during her antenatal journey.

Denise offers a safe, non-judgemental space for straight and same sex attracted women, cis women, trans women, those of gender fluid, queer and non binary.
During your pregnancy she will work as your primary midwife and together you will create and individualised Antenatal Care schedule suited to your wishes. She can also make the appropriate referrals to The Women’s obstetric team, a GP or other referrals (physiotherapist, mental health service, etc). Labour, birth and post natal care will be at The Women’s Hospital where you all be cared for by the hospital midwives.

Denise’s first came to Australia on a holiday in 2011. After travelling along the East Coast she fell in love with the country and as soon as she returned to the UK she applied to The Royal Women’s Hospital and moved 18month later!
She has a love of yoga and meditation, and is a qualified yoga instructor. She enjoys cycling, the cinema, and catching up with friends for good food and good wine.

Denise is available for bookings every Monday.  Phone 0416 509 195 or visit denisejenkins.com.au to make an enquiry or appointment.
